Bishop Allen Responds to Safety in Honduras

At the January Honduras Commission meeting Bishop Lloyd Allen reemphasized the responsibility the Diocese of Honduras has for the safety of teams traveling in Honduras.  Episcopal mission teams while in Honduras are under the supervision and direction of the Diocese of Honduras.  Teams are met at the airport and taken to their mission sites and are in communication with a diocesan staff at all times.  He further explained that the Peace Corps in Honduras is involved in areas that are not safe, places where he nor any U. S. mission team would ever go.  There are things going on in Honduras that we in the U.S. read about in our papers, but please keep in mind that those things are drug and gang related.  Honduras has areas just as in the U.S. that are dangerous, because of the criminal activity, but mission teams are kept away from such areas.

If you have any questions about safe travel in Honduras, please contact a commission member.
